How to multiply a fraction by a whole number?

In this post,  I will show you how to multiple a fraction by a whole number in just few steps.

Step-1:To multiply a fraction by a whole number, first take a fraction and whole number as an example.

●One fraction=5/2

●One whole number=2

Step-2:Now put multiplication sign between the fraction and the whole number.

●5/2 × 2

Step-3:Now rewrite the whole number as a fraction taking 1 as a denominator.

Look, 2=2/1

◆   5/2 × 2  = 5/2 × 2/1

Step-4:Now multiply numerator to numerator and denominator to denominator.

◆  5/2 × 2 = (5×2)/(2×1)

       Or,   5/2 × 2   =10/2

Step-5:Now we have to divide numerator and denominator by common factor to reduce the fraction  to the lowest term as possible.

Or,   5/2 × 2   =(10÷2)/(2÷2)

Or,   5/2 × 2   = 5/1

Or,   5/2 × 2   = 5

The answer is 5.
